And so the new kid arrives... Empty
PostSubject: And so the new kid arrives...   And so the new kid arrives... EmptyWed Jul 28, 2010 9:11 pm

Lucien walked up the Hill to the border. He'd been told that he'd be safe from any monster attack at the top of the Hill, where the pine tree was. When Lucien had asked how and why, he'd not got much of an answer. 'Don't know how. It's like a forcefield or something. And why? Are you serious? Do you want to be fighting monsters off all the time? It's there to keep them out and keep you safe.' was the answer. It wasn't much, but it was enough.

Lucien marvelled at the dragon at the top of the Hill. He knew straight away that it was good, because ti looked at him, yawned and put it's head back on it's claws. Lucien could have sworn that it had winked at him. Looking out over his new home, he saw the cabins, the woods and the Big House. He saw the strawberry fields too, and could hear the noise of clagning and people talking, laughing and screaming as they had fun or got on with whatever it was. This was the first camp Lucien had ever been to, because there hadn't been any back in England. And he'd been stuck in a hostile since he got out of hospital...

Pushing that thought away, Lucien made his way down the hill. He had just a few clothes on him. He'd lost all his possessions on the day of the .... accident. So when he had been in the hostel, he'd been taken out to get some new second hand clothes. The ywere cheap, after all, and Lucien needed the clothes. Luckily, they'd managed to find some clean ones that fit him and actually looked fine.

He made his way up to the Big House where he'd been told he had to let Mr D or some guy called Chiron know he was here. When Lucien had asked why the guy who had told him all this wasn't coming, the guy laughed and said it was because he was out finding ha;f bloods to send there. He was a mortal, he said, and could see throgh something called the Mist. Been totally clueless, Lucien had asked about that as well and found out that the Mist is what stopped the mortals been able ot see the monsters as what they really were. That had explained why no one else had seen what Lucien had seen.

And so Lucien had made his way to camp, and here he was now. Looking up at the House before him, he wondered how many people stayed in it. Knocking on the door, he walked in and called out.

"Hello? Anyone here? Some dude told me to come speak to Chiron or Mr D and let them know I'm here....."

Hephaestus

Hephaestus, the god of fire, especially the blacksmith's fire, was the patron of all craftsmen, principally those working with metals. He was worshiped predominantly in Athens, but also in other manufacturing centres. He was the god of volcanoes. Later, the fire within them represented the smith's furnace. Hephaestus was associated with Mount Etna, which is on the island of Sicily. Known as the lame god, Hephaestus was born weak and crippled. Displeased by the sight of her son, Hera threw Hephaestus from Mount Olympus, and he fell for a whole day before landing in the sea. Nymphs rescued him and took him to Lemnos, where the people of the island cared for him. But other versions say Zeus threw him from Mount Olympus after Hephaestus had sided with his mother in a quarrel. This legend says that Hephaestus fell for nine days and nine nights, and he landed on the island of Lemnos. It was on Lemnos where he built his palace and his forges under a volcano. To gain revenge for his rejection by Hera, Hephaestus fashioned a magic throne, which was presented to her on Mount Olympus. When Hera sat on the throne, it entrapped her, making her a prisoner. The gods on Mount Olympus pleaded with Hephaestus to return to their heavenly domain, as to release Hera, but he refused. Dionysus gave the smith god wine, and when Hephaestus was intoxicated, Dionysus took him back to Mount Olympus slumped over the back of a mule. This scene was a favorite in Greek art. Hephaestus released Hera after being given the beautiful Aphrodite as his bride. Dionysus was rewarded by being made one of the Olympian Pantheon.

The Fire God was never accustomed to trusting Humans, prefering to send forth Automatons to do all his work. Not that he didn't love them, for they made many monuments (such as the Eiffel Tower or the Angel of the North) but they had emotions, things that could stand in there way. Unlike the machines, who just did what they were told with no questions asked.

Hephaestus was under Mount St. Helens when he noticed the prescence of his child in Camp Half-Blood. He smiled and appeared there. "Hey Kid, you're new here right? Well, you have a place here now, because I claim you as my Son. Youre gift is in your pocket, now I must go!" He returned to the forges with a grin on his face, and he began making a Battleaxe.

As Lucien waited to see if anyone would come help him before he looked around himself, some random guy appeared in front of him out of nowhere. He told Lucien he now had a place here at camp, then disappeared. Lucien wondered which god it was until he saw a light shimmering above his head and looked up to see the hammer and tongs sign of Hephaestus. Shocked, Lucien couldn't think of anything much to say. Instead, something typically British popped out from his mouth.

"Bloody hell!" He said. He hadn't expected to get claimed so fast, or by one of the twelve Olympian gods. Still, been claimed by Hephaestus would explain his fear of heights, something he'd had all his life. That had been his only fear until the 'accident'. Now Lucien would never go near a plane again either. As his dad disappeared, Lucien felt a weight in his pocket and looked down at it to see a belt sticking out. He pulled it out of his pocket, and a round bit at the buckle fell out.

Oh no! I can't have broken it already! Lucien thought, grabbing the round bit that had fallen out. Picking it up, he saw that it wasn't part of the buckle, but a watch that had fit perfectly into where the buckle was. Lucien put the belt on, noticing it had little tools around it. He touched one of them, a hammer, and it popped into his hand and grew to a full sized hammer. Touching it back to where it had been on the belt, it shrunk and became part of it again.

That's cool... definitely a 'tool belt' in a literal sense... Lucien then put on the watch. It had the time in the middle, like a digital watch, but around the outside were what looked to be miniature weapons, or drawings of them. There was a bit to twist the dial around to choose what he wanted.

Now he had been claimed, Lucien knew where to go. He'd been told that when you're claimed, you go to your parent's cabin. Which meant he now stayed in the Hephaestus cabin. Stepping outside to go there, he noticed a symbol on his watch that didn't look like a weapon. It looked like a little flame. Twisting the dial until the hand pointed at the flame, Lucien got the shock of his life when green fire appeared in his hands.

"AAAAAHHHHH!!! I'm on fire!!!" He screamed, running round and shaking his arm to get it off. Drops came off the fire and burned on the ground, but the fire in his hands didn't go out. Lucien dropped to the ground and rolled, fire going everywhere around him, but not going out. It was around this time when Lucien realised that he wasn't actually burning - it seemed that as a son of Hephaestus, he was fireproof. Of course, he still didn't know how to put the fire out. "Stop! Stop! STOP BURNING!!!" He yelled. It would be just his luck to burn down camp on his first day here. And yet again, Lucien got a surprise... the fire actually went out. But so did a lot of Lucien's energy. He felt dizzy and light headed, and had to sit down.
